About this Scientific Article
The article explores the debated question of optimal orientation for the trapezium component (cup) in new-generation, dual-mobility CMC I joint implants for treating thumb carpometacarpal arthritis. This advanced implant generation, featuring porous-coated surfaces and metal-on-polyethylene bearings, is gaining traction. The study retrospectively examines cup placement orientation in relation to the scaphotrapezius joint line and proximal trapezium structure, as well as its potential impact on implant function and stability.
