About the Course
In this first part of a two-part virtual course, you will be presented with four interesting topics. The first contribution informs you in detail about indications, preoperative virtual planning, different materials, approaches and fixations when using patient specific implants in reconstructive procedures. The second contribution gives an overview of the history and development of microsurgical bone flaps in craniofacial reconstruction. Computer planning and cutting guides are shown as well as immediate implants and automated planning via mathematical algorithm. The third contribution provides a detailed overview of state-of-the-art methods of soft tissue reconstruction. These range from primary closure to non-vascularised grafts and pedicled flaps to microvascular free flaps. The last contribution provides insights into the possibilities of augmented reality in the operating theatre. Anatomical structures as well as cuts and trajectories can be projected onto the patient. All speakers illustrate their topics with numerous case examples. The course concludes with a Q & A.
